Taking the Road Less Travelled

Having an ‘adventure’ style bike doesn’t always mean taking your bike out to some remote road in the middle of no where, but it sure helps knowing that you can.  Not that the Suzuki V-Strom is a go anywhere type of bike (there are definitely better dirt equipped bikes out there), but it was definitely made to be able to get off of the normal everyday roads and head off in search of roads that are less travelled.

So that’s what I did.

I wanted to find some gravel roads.  Roads that would take me places that I would normally not go to on a bike, roads that usually I would intentionally avoid because of the terrain.  Of course I wanted to start off easy as I have no experience riding for long periods on dirt and gravel, so I picked a fairly short route of about 30-40 kilometres (each way) and set out to see how it felt riding on these types of roads.  It was great!

I hope to spend more time as the season allows to search for roads that take me places that I would normally not see.  To experience a different kind of riding and to see more remote areas of the areas around me.  I hope to get at least one more month of riding (fingers crossed) and I hope to spend at least one day a week looking for these roads.  What a great way to end the season!

Hope you enjoy the video.
