2003 Kawasaki Nomad Fi 1500cc

Well that happened much quicker and sooner then I thought…

So my plan has been all season (2014) that next season would be when I purchased a bigger bike.  Now don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love my little Hyosung GV250, its been a fantastic bike to learn on, but I now want bigger. Ive been spending a lot of time online on the used bike sites for Ontario and have been watching.  Not that I was going to buy anything yet, but watching for what price people where selling their bikes for.  I wanted to know what kind of bike I could probably get when next spring came around (even though I would have the money available come February). But I did have a budget.  And that was where I was going to focus my search.

There were a few bikes that I was interested in.  First was the VTX1300 and VTX1800 which both fell into my price. Luckily one of the local bike shops had one and so I went to sit on it, and it felt pretty good.  Now while I was at the shop I noticed 2 Vulcan Nomads, but  both were definitely out of my price point, but I still sat on them.  So Comfy!!  This is a bike that I have liked for a long time.  But as far as I was concerned just too much.  So back to my browsing.

So about a month ago I was watching the online ads and saw this Nomad get posted.  A bit out of my price but close so I decided to favourite the ad so that I could watch it. The ad originated from a small town about 1.5 hours away which I figured could also be in my favour as the bike was not being sold in a major city and I know that most people just don’t want to travel to look at something that is a ‘maybe’.  Again though I really wasn’t truly looking to buy anything right away.

So a month later and the price has dropped right into my budget.  Now I am super interested.  I contact the owner and basically ask if I were to put down a deposit would he hold the bike for me come spring.  Again hoping that time was on my side.  Well low and behold he said yes!

In my car I go.

So after about 90 mins I arrive.  And the owner is awesome!  Such a great guy, which made this experience even better.  Told me all about the bike, showed me things he had added, explained what extra parts would be coming with the bike, including brake pads, oil filters, etc.  This bike has definitely been taken care of.  Plus he showed me his new bike. Really nice.

So to make a long story short.  The bike is being held for me until February / March when I can pay the remainder and then drive her home once the weather warms up enough to ride.  Again I want to say what  a great experience the whole thing was.  Well done.  And guess what. I now have a Vulcan Nomad.  A bike I’ve always liked but honestly never thought I would own, or at least not this soon.

I can not wait for next season when I can actually drive the bike to her new home!
