What do you do to survive the winter months?

Its January 3rd, 2014 and Ive had my bike put away for its slumber since about the 3rd week of November.  I must say that I just can’t wait until spring and the bike can come out.

So what do you do during the winter months, what helps you get from one riding season through to the next?

So a month or so ago I started watching a fantastic series called “Long Way Round” which starred Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman on a motorcycle trip from London to New York. I absolutely fell in love with this show. I quickly started watching the sequel, which was called “The Long Way Down” which took the two from London down to South Africa.  These two shows are what got me interested in doing this Blog/Website. I really enjoyed watching Ewan and Charley venture through different obstacles on their motorcycles. This was one of the first times that I actually enjoyed watching anything that resembled a travel show.

After finishing these two TV series, I went on the look to see what else they had produced in terms of these types of shows. I found that Charley Boorman was now making all kinds of shows and was eager to continue watching. The first that I watched was his “Race to Dakar”.  This was then followed by season one and two of “Extreme Frontiers”. Extreme Frontiers season one took place in Canada which was pretty awesome to watch even though he got some of his stats wrong.

So now I am currently or have currently just finished watching “By Any Means” season one, and am in the midst of watching season two. These shows really help me get through the winter months and I am sure that I will watch them numerous times during the winters to come.

The first few weeks of January are always a hard time cause you just settled into the new year, and at least here in Ottawa, it is one of the coldest months that we have. When we get to February and March can start to see the light at the end of the tunnel, which is always good.

Also, every February and March there are multiple motorcycle shows which help get your spirits back. And I will be attending each and every one of them!

Well I hope to hear from you guys to see what it is that you do or watch or whatever it is that gets you through the winter months. I look forward to reading your comments.

Until then…
Ride safe!
