So day 2 of my prep week has come and gone and today was a very productive day, or at least I think it was.
I started nice and early and started to get the bike ready. Now as Ive said in previous posts, this is all new to me, so things take much longer then they would if I was to have to do them again, but that is why I’m doing this stuff. I want to learn how.
So my challenges today were to install the luggage rack first. Well actually the rack and the side bags were kind of a combo install as they were both mounting to the same area. Now this was were my first hiccup came. Not that it was a bad thing, but because i was installing the rack and the mounts for the hard bags, the screws that were there were just to short. So I had to make my way to my local automotive store to get some longer ones. I ended up buying a few different sizes just so that i wouldnt have to go back again. But that wasn’t the case because after I had installed or at least positioned the luggage rack I realized that i would need a special type and fairly large type of bit for my drill for the holes that i needed to make in the Mutazu GA saddlebags. So back I went once again, luckily the store isn’t that far away so it wasn’t taking that large a chunk of time each time I had to go back.
Well the complete install of all 3 parts took me almost the entire day. Now If I were to do it again, I could probably do it in less then half the time. So if you are planning on this kind of work please make sure to give yourself lots of time. Im really happy to be able to do this kind of stuff on my bike, and I know that having a long section of time so that I can really get into it was very beneficial.
