So even though I didn’t get the chance to change my oil today as I had planned (this can wait as I do have fairly new oil in the bike – as it was replaced at the beginning of her winter slumber).
Now tightening the chain was something that I had to do before I forgot and ended up riding it this coming season as it was extremely loose. So better to do it now while it is on my mind.
So a couple trips to the local hardware store and I had all the tools that I needed to do this. Not that most of you won’t have the tools already, but I am not a big tool guy, so there is always a needed tool.
This time the needed tool was a 1/2 inch ratchet. I had a 3/8 inch one, which was also needed, but I needed the larger one to remove the axil nuts. After getting the tools, the process of actually tightening the chain was actually quite easy.
Over the past week I have learnt a lot about working on my bike. I encourage you all to try working on your bike if you have the tools and the time. Its a great learning experience and is great to be able to do all this on your own.
Make sure to watch the video below as I explain what steps I have to take on my bike to tighten my chain. This really is one of the simpler maintenance things that we should be doing with our bikes at least a couple times per season. Even though I do this on my Hyosung GV250 the steps should be very similar on all motorcycles.
