Time to Start Customizing the V-Strom

Quick post for those that are interested.  I’ve been riding the Suzuki V-Strom for a couple of weeks now.  We’ve had the chance to take these bikes (which we both absolutely love) out for some good long rides (200km+ a couple of times, and One 500km+ Ride).  After doing this a few things just weren’t right for me.

First the stock handle bar position was to low.  No matter how I adjusted them I just couldn’t get them in a position that was comfortable over long distances.  Second issue was that I was getting wind right in the face.  I love wind in my face while riding and having to ride with my shield on my helmet down all the time was not something that I liked.  That was something that I would have to look into as well.

My first purchase was a set of 2″ Rox Risers.  Installation was super easy, but be mindful of cable lengths.  Luckily my cables had enough reach.  I did make sure to cut all the twist ties that i could see to give me some extra length when installing them.  But they are now in position and they are pretty much perfect.  I positioned them in a very upright position so that my arms came up higher.  Which helps when I’m riding in the sitting position and when I decide to be adventurous and stand on the pegs.

Second purchase was a X-Creen Sport windscreen extension.  The company makes both a sport and a touring model.  But for the extra cost for what you get a just couldn’t justify the touring model.  Nice thing about the sport model is that it comes with two types of mounts.  One that allows you to clamp it onto you existing windscreen (which is how I mounted it) and the other would be to bolt it on (which is definitely a more permanent solution).  The screen is fully adjustable and I can position it how I like depending on how and where I’m riding.  Pretty awesome.  And even with the clamp mount it feels super secure!

Both add-ons were expensive in my eyes for what you get, but after riding with them I can’t imagine riding (especially long rides when on the highway) without either of them. Make sure to watch the video below to see what they look like on the V-Strom.

Ride Safe!!
